Graduation Requirements

Students expecting to receive degrees from Miller College must apply for graduation no later than the date specified in the Academic Calendar for the semester in which they expect to graduate. Students must satisfactorily meet all College requirements and financial obligations before the degree is awarded. Students must do the following to graduate from Miller College:

  • Complete a minimum of 30 semester hours in residency at Miller College.
  • Complete all program course requirements.
  • Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours overall.
  • Complete a minimum of 30-45 semester hours of 300/400 level course work as required by your program (more may be required in specific programs).
  • Attain an overall GPA of 2.0 on all course work attempted at Miller College and at least a 2.0 in your major field.  An overall GPA of 2.5 is required for the Binda School of Education and an overall GPA of 3.0 is required for the RN to BSN Program.
  • Clear all financial obligations to Miller College.

EACH STUDENT MUST ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR KNOWING THE ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE THAT IS BEING PURSUED.

Graduation Application
Students planning to receive a degree from Miller College should complete the Intent to Graduate form and submit it to the Student Services Office no later than the date specified in the Academic Calendar for the semester in which they expect to graduate. Deadline dates are published in the class schedule. It is advisable for students to consult with their advisor one semester prior to graduation and to request a degree audit from the Student Services Office. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all graduation requirements are met.
A $50 fee covers the costs of the diploma and its cover, cap and gown, and 10 commencement ceremony announcements.

Commencement Ceremony
An annual commencement is held in May to honor all graduates of the past year.  Students will receive information on graduation activities, ordering a cap and gown, and purchasing announcements.

Graduation with Honors
Students who have fulfilled the requirements for a bachelor’s degree and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher will be graduated with honors as follows:

3.90 – 4.00 Highest Honors - Summa Cum Laude
3.75 – 3.89 High Honors - Magna Cum Laude
3.50 – 3.74 Honors - Cum Laude

The appropriate honors designation will be included on the student’s academic record and diploma.
